I was reading a post by Saisuresh Sivaswamy, this morning in Rediff, urging the messiah amongst us to stand up in this hour of need. Dr Abdul Kalam is indeed the one messiah I will like to see standing up and give us the succor and leadership that we desparately need. Is that what YOU and I want? That, politicians are a breed with the thickest of hides, is a very well known fact - (I am tempted to post an entry in Wikipedia about our politicians). But politicians with "inner voices" - my word I did not realise that such a spieces existed. Digressing a bit, who is a politician with a "inner voice"? There is a simple way to find out. Open his or her mouth and shout - "Hello" and I am sure you will either hear an echo of your own voice or an eeire silence... Think about it, do you want your voice heard? Coming back to the point. The messiah amongst us !!. Who is he or her ? Who is to lead us out of this morbid existance. YOU and ME. YOU are the leader, I AM the leader. YOU are the Messiah. I AM the Messiah. YOU are the change. I AM the change. And what is the change we need? YOU and I need to first need to stop using our index finger in direction away from OURSELVES. Turn the finger towards US - YOU and I. Why? because that's where the problem is. YOU and I ... Voted for the blighters with "inner voices" turned the other way when we see obvious corruption stark in front of us greased palms of an already-oily rhinos in human shapes do not have "inner voices" mortgaged our conscience in pursuit of petty benefits Do not have basic politness, honesty, and civility Can YOU and I answer any one of these questions without flinching or feeling a barb in OUR gut How many of YOU and I stop when the signal is RED? How many of YOU and I wear helmets while on two wheelers? How many of YOU and I use the Cell phones while driving ? How many of YOU and I spit in public ? How many of YOU and I smoke in public places ? How many of YOU and I honk in hospital zones ? How many of YOU and I cross the roads at the zebra crossing ? How many of YOU and I use the public toilet ? How many of YOU and I............................. it goes on and on and on and on See, where the problem is? YOU and I are not DISCIPLINED, YOU and I care two hoots , YOU and I give a S*** for the happenings or non-happenings around YOU and I Why do YOU and I feel bad if a bunch of demented bozos walk in to YOUR and MY backyard and spray leathal gun powder all over? Who killed Hemanth Karkare, Sandeep Unnikrishnan, Saleskar, Ashok Kamte, Gajendra Singh, MC Sharma and scores of the innocents? YOU AND I.. YOU and I let them do it.. YOU and I let them down.
